About the Role
We are PCI, a company dedicated to delivering life-changing therapies with a global impact. We seek a Vice President, General Manager to lead our San Diego site, accountable to the President of Development & Manufacturing. This leadership position involves overseeing site operations, driving operational excellence, fostering a high-performance culture, and supporting organizational growth and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and implement the long-term strategic plan for the San Diego facility, ensuring alignment with broader enterprise goals.
- Participate as a vital member of the Development & Manufacturing leadership team, contributing to strategic planning, capital investment decisions, and operational excellence activities.
- Promote an organizational culture valuing accountability, engagement, innovation, collaboration, learning, and talent growth.
- Maintain strong relationships with key customers, positioning PCI as a trusted partner and industry leader while aiming to boost customer retention and satisfaction.
- Identify and address operational, financial, regulatory, quality, and business continuity risks to secure sustainable growth and resilience.
- Oversee execution of capital plans and coordinate production and maintenance activities within stringent quality, regulatory, and safety standards.
- Drive customer satisfaction by ensuring timely, high-quality product delivery and by nurturing a customer-obsessed operational culture.
- Collaborate with Business Development to expand existing customer relationships and secure new business aligning with company growth targets.
- Champion PCI’s One Culture philosophy through employee engagement, inclusion, communication, leadership visibility, and managing organizational change.
- Lead workforce planning to secure necessary capabilities, succession plans, leadership pipelines, and talent strategies to meet business objectives.
- Implement continuous improvement programs utilizing lean manufacturing, operational excellence, digital transformation, and best practices across all site functions.
- Coordinate closely with leaders in Operations, Technical Services, Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, and HR to ensure cohesive execution of strategies.
- Foster a safe work environment that complies with company policies, regulatory standards, and employment laws.
- Facilitate audit readiness and participation, ensuring root causes are addressed, corrective actions taken, and sustainment achieved.
- Oversee team development by providing coaching, training, leadership, and growth opportunities.
- Lead change management, harmonization efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives to unify global clinical service offerings.
Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Business Administration, or related fields; advanced degrees (MBA, Master’s) preferred.
- At least 15 years of progressive leadership experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, CDMO, or similarly regulated manufacturing, including senior operational leadership roles.
- Proven expertise leading sterile fill-finish manufacturing with strong operational, regulatory compliance, quality, and financial results track record.
- Strong background in managing complex manufacturing operations with full P&L responsibility and experience in strategic planning and business growth.
- Extensive experience building high-performing, cross-functional teams focused on talent development, succession planning, and leadership effectiveness.
- Deep knowledge of FDA, EMA, MHRA, and other global pharmaceutical manufacturing regulations, quality systems, and cGMP standards.
- Demonstrated success in business strategy development to enhance growth, profitability, and competitive positioning.
- Leadership of large-scale transformation and continuous improvement initiatives with effective change management.
- Executive presence with ability to engage diverse stakeholders including customers, investors, regulators, and senior leaders.
- Strong commercial understanding including customer acquisition, contract negotiations, and strategic account management.
- Excellent analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills with ability to translate data into actionable plans.
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills across all organizational levels.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive culture centered on accountability, engagement, innovation, collaboration, and growth.
- Proficiency with business systems such as ERP, data analytics tools, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed for operations and business development.
Benefits and Compensation
- An annual salary range from $223,840 to $265,000 is offered for candidates located in San Diego, CA, along with eligibility for an annual performance bonus.
