Role Summary

The role entails driving growth and managing partnerships with financial institutions, while also enhancing correspondent banking relationships. This involves establishing new correspondent banking alliances to expand QNB's global reach.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in executing strategic plans to meet volume, revenue, and profitability targets.
  • Support development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track Financial Institutions Unit performance and routinely assess achievements.
  • Achieve or surpass budget targets related to placements, borrowings, and loan syndications within Financial Institutions.
  • Promote efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and productivity across all operations to optimize bank benefits.
  • Operate within delegated authority limits and implement best practices for the Vice President role.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by cultivating durable relationships with financial correspondents.
  • Establish and maintain robust partnerships between QNB and counterpart banks, coordinating with international branches and subsidiaries.
  • Collaborate across bank divisions to recommend and enhance counterparty relationships.
  • Support periodic travels abroad for relationship management and marketing QNB internationally.
  • Monitor periodic Profit & Loss reports associated with Nostro/Vostro accounts, treasury, and other counterparty-related income and expenses.
  • Maintain adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with internal units to improve response times.
  • Provide timely, accurate information to auditors, compliance units, financial control, and risk departments.
  • Assist in business development, credit recommendations, and relationship management with select banks globally.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are in place and complied with to guide daily activities.
  • Manage the credit portfolio, ensuring targets are met and risks are promptly addressed.
  • Approve credit proposals within authorization limits and escalate others as necessary.
  • Identify and report early warning signs on risky accounts or relationships.
  • Monitor external ratings and assess their impact on financial institution relationships.
  • Coordinate annual financial institution reviews and prepare reports for executive management and the Board.
  • Implement approved relationship management strategies to meet business objectives.
  • Provide expertise and guidance to relationship officers to ensure credit proposals meet risk standards.
  • Participate in international projects such as IMF meetings and SIBOS Expos.
  • Resolve staff grievances within the team decisively.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of financial institutions' operations, controls, and correspondent relationship practices.
  • Identify professional development needs for self and team members.
  • Stay updated on all relevant industry developments.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal policies, including AML, sanctions, data protection, fraud prevention, and conflict of interest policies.
  • Understand and fulfill role within the Three Lines of Defense framework to manage risks.
  • Support operational risk management including RCSA, KRI, incident reporting, and remediation.
  • Complete mandatory training and attend required seminars.
  • Uphold confidentiality of sensitive bank and customer information, sharing only with authorized parties.
  • Maintain high professional standards to protect QNB's reputation and leadership.
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Marketing, Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or IT-related fields; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years relevant experience, ideally within a highly rated international banking institution.
  • Strong understanding of competitive market dynamics, industry practices, and regulations within financial institutions and correspondent banking.
  • Fluent in English and Arabic with excellent communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities and practical insight into risk management principles.
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks governing financial institution relationships.
  • High integrity and self-management capabilities.
  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead culturally diverse teams effectively.
  • Solid awareness of anti-money laundering laws and regulatory requirements.
