Job description
Role overview
A private-equity-backed industrial wholesale distribution business with more than $1B in revenue is hiring a Vice President of Finance to oversee FP&A and operational finance across a multi-location platform. This is a high-profile leadership position that reports to the CFO and works closely with private equity sponsors, the Board, and lenders.
Key responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the company-wide rolling forecast, annual budget, and long-term strategic financial model, making sure they support growth and value-creation goals.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial presentations for executive leadership and PE stakeholders, including clear explanations of performance gaps, KPIs, and major business drivers.
- Create consistent financial metrics across branch locations so divisional leaders can understand unit-level performance and economics.
- Drive ROI analysis and pro forma modeling for strategic efforts such as pricing actions, cost improvements, and operational investments.
- Work alongside the Chief Accounting Officer on cash flow projections, liquidity management, and working capital performance.
- Act as the finance lead for the ERP platform, collaborating with IT and Operations to improve workflows and automate finance processes.
- Develop and expand Power BI reporting tools that turn transactional data into live insights for leadership and PE sponsors.
- Contribute to M&A work, including financial modeling, pro forma build-outs, integration planning, data mapping, and standardized acquisition reporting.
- Build, guide, and grow a strong FP&A and financial analytics team.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a closely related subject is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
- At least 10 years of progressive finance leadership experience, including 3 to 5 years in a senior role such as VP or Senior Director, preferably within a PE-backed portfolio company.
- Background in wholesale distribution or multi-state industrial operations, with a strong grasp of high-volume, multi-site business models.
- Experience building and scaling businesses toward or beyond $1B in revenue.
- Strong expertise in financial modeling, including budgeting, forecasting, and ROI/pro forma analysis.
- Comfort working in M&A settings, including diligence, financial modeling, or post-close integration.
- Experience creating board, lender, and private equity materials in a fast-moving, accountable environment.
- Advanced data skills, with the ability to use ERP systems and Power BI to build automated data pipelines.
