Role Summary
The Vice President of Economics will oversee the comprehensive research, data analysis, and market intelligence functions, as well as coordinate and finalize all major QNB economic reports and monthly deliverables. This role also entails monitoring economic developments in key global markets, managing competitive intelligence and identifying strategic opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee effective utilization of analytical tools, data resources, statistical software, and research subscriptions within the Group Economics team.
- Lead preparation of economic inputs for business and budget forecasts, including macroeconomic evaluations across different countries.
- Implement key performance indicators and best practices as set for the Assistant Vice President Economics role.
- Drive cost-efficiency measures, enhance productivity, and promote resource optimization within the team.
- Operate within delegated authority limits.
- Manage research products and investor relations activities focused on macroeconomic insights.
- Direct the production and publication of all Group Economics materials such as Country Economic Insight Reports, Weekly Economic Commentary, Qatar Monthly Monitor, Global Macro Updates, and custom reports.
- Coordinate economic content for key committees including Investment Management Committee (IMC), Asset and Liability Management Committee (ALCO), Group Management Risk Committee (GMRC), and Ratings Report.
- Ensure compliance with Service Level Agreements to optimize turnaround times for internal stakeholders.
- Support recruitment, staff motivation, and uphold adherence to the Bank's core values and mission.
- Coach managers and team members on generating internal and external economic reports.
- Engage in continuous professional development and stay informed of advances in the field.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Market Research, or a related discipline.
- Advanced degrees such as a Master’s or Ph.D. in Economics from a leading global university are highly preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience within the economics department of a major international financial institution, including management responsibility for small teams, and at least five years as a practicing economist.
- Demonstrated expertise in authoring macroeconomic and research reports.
