Position Overview

The Unarmed Security Guard will be tasked with delivering security coverage at designated client sites during assigned shifts. Scheduling, site locations, and hours can vary based on client demands, staffing circumstances, and contractual changes, requiring adaptability and flexibility. SSPG aims to accommodate preferred availability but expects responsiveness to changing needs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Guard the assigned client premises to ensure the safety of people, property, and assets.
• Work various shifts and be available for reassignment to different locations as client requirements evolve.
• Maintain professionalism throughout all interactions with clients, visitors, and colleagues to support a secure and positive atmosphere.
• Perform regular patrols of assigned sites and monitor surveillance systems, ensuring adherence to security procedures.
• Document any security incidents, breaches, or irregularities thoroughly and report them promptly to appropriate authorities within the organization.
• Carry out any additional duties requested by SSPG leadership.

Candidate Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification.
• Possession of an active Private Detective Permit issued by the State of Illinois (PERC).
• Prior experience in unarmed security or relatable roles is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Effective communication skills combined with problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong situational awareness and meticulous attention to detail.
• Competence in verbal de-escalation and maintaining composure during incidents.
• Physical stamina to stand, walk, or patrol for extended durations.
• Ability to respond swiftly and effectively to emergency situations.

Work Schedule Details

• Employees will work scheduled shifts at assigned client locations.
• Schedules and site assignments may be adjusted in response to client and operational needs.
• Flexibility is required to accept additional shifts, including on-call or emergency assignments.

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay rate is $18.00 per hour.
• Employees are paid weekly on Fridays.
• Chicago-based employees are entitled to benefits under the Chicago Paid and Sick Leave Ordinance.
• Part-time staff earn paid time off (PTO) at a rate of one hour per 40 hours worked, following ILPLAWA regulations.
• Employee referral bonuses are available.
