Job description

Role overview

This opportunity is with a global cards and payments organisation supporting a major bank in Qatar. The role sits within a high-performing delivery team focused on card products used by millions of customers, with responsibility for validating changes that affect customer experience, compliance, and release readiness.

The selected candidate will take ownership of user acceptance testing for new card launches, customer value proposition enhancements, and compliance-related updates. The work is highly cross-functional and directly supports reliable launches, regulatory confidence, and strong customer outcomes across the card lifecycle.

Engagement details

  • Position: UAT Tester - Cards & Payments
  • Client: Global Cards & Payments Firm
  • End client: Leading Bank
  • Work arrangement: Onsite in Doha, Qatar
  • Contract type: Initial 12-month engagement with a strong possibility of extension
  • Experience required: 5-8+ years

Key responsibilities

You will be expected to convert business needs into structured test coverage, validate integrated payment journeys, manage defects through closure, and support formal release sign-off.

  • Interpret business requirements and convert them into test scenarios, test cases, and realistic test data covering card issuance, authorisations, settlements, disputes, loyalty/rewards, and related card features.
  • Perform end-to-end validation across connected environments, including card management, switching, scheme connectivity, and partner systems for ATM, POS, and online transactions.
  • Record, prioritise, and monitor defects through resolution, followed by regression testing after fixes are applied.
  • Work closely with business analysts, developers, QA teams, and business stakeholders to keep test cycles on track and remove blockers quickly.
  • Prepare UAT evidence packs, execution summaries, and requirement traceability documentation, and obtain formal business approval before release.
  • Review BRDs and functional specifications to ensure full and traceable UAT coverage.
  • Maintain UAT scenarios, test cases, and data sets for issuance, processing, settlements, disputes, rewards, and other card capabilities.
  • Validate transaction journeys across CMS, authorisation, clearing and settlement, scheme networks, and partner integrations.
  • Log and manage defects in Azure DevOps and/or JIRA while keeping a complete audit trail of evidence and artefacts.
  • Run regression tests after defect fixes and candidate releases to confirm existing card functionality remains stable.
  • Ensure testing aligns with card-scheme requirements and relevant banking/regulatory obligations.
  • Support launch readiness by confirming dependencies such as card profiles, limits, KYC/AML flows, settlement, and fee structures are delivered correctly and on time.

Knowledge and experience

  • Strong domain knowledge of card lifecycle management across credit, debit, and prepaid products.
  • Practical understanding of card acquiring and processing across ATM, POS, and e-commerce channels.
  • Exposure to settlement, reconciliation, chargebacks, disputes, and fraud-related processes.
  • Experience in UAT planning and execution, CVP validation, integration testing, defect handling, regression testing, traceability, and reporting.
  • Hands-on use of JIRA and Azure DevOps.
  • Familiarity with card management platforms such as Way4 and TSYS PRIME, plus payment processing ecosystems and Mastercard/Visa scheme connectivity.
  • Working awareness of card-scheme rules and banking compliance expectations in the GCC/Qatar environment.
  • Strong analytical thinking, clear communication, stakeholder coordination, ownership of quality, and a disciplined, collaborative working approach.

Additional information

  • This role is focused on ensuring card product changes are accurate, compliant, and ready for customer release.
  • The work environment requires close coordination with multiple teams under release pressure.
  • A careful, evidence-based testing approach is essential because the output directly affects customer trust and product reliability.
