The company focuses on delivering high-quality, cost-effective services in municipal, industrial, and hazardous waste sectors backed by a strong commitment to sustainability. Their waste-to-energy facility in Meath processes over 220,000 tonnes of residual waste annually to generate electricity powering around 22,000 homes. To support business growth, they are expanding their team for the Total Waste Management (TWM) Unit.
The role of a TWM Waste Operative entails managing operational waste handling at the customer site, ensuring proper movement and handling of waste in line with contractual agreements. The operative supports safe and compliant collection, sorting, packaging, and transport of waste both onsite and to the designated processing destinations.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and transport varied waste types within the site to a central collection point.
- Perform loading and unloading tasks safely and efficiently.
- Prepare waste for transfer by sorting, packing, bulking, and repackaging as needed.
- Identify and store waste appropriately following applicable regulations.
- Manage inventory of empty containers to prevent shortages.
- Plan and register waste removals ensuring alignment with customer agreements.
- Handle administrative tasks to coordinate timely and correct transport of materials.
- Adhere to all safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment.
- Maintain a clean, organized work setting.
- Communicate regularly with management regarding work progress and issues.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum of a Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Between 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in waste management, preferably within pharmaceutical, production, or petro-chemical sectors.
- Valid forklift license.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
- Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills.
- Safe Pass certification is advantageous but not mandatory as training will be offered.
- Chemical awareness is beneficial.
