Job description
Overview
London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust is inviting applications for seven Trust Grade Registrar positions within its Anaesthesia and Critical Care departments. These newly created roles arise from combining the previously separate rotas from Ealing Hospital, Northwick Park, and Central Middlesex into a single comprehensive three-site rota. This restructure significantly broadens the clinical exposure available to post holders, reflecting one of the largest and most diverse departments in North West London.
Role Expectations
The available positions primarily cater to doctors experienced in Intensive Care Medicine, who are able to take on the responsibilities of a senior resident registrar under consultant supervision. The post holders will be engaged in resident on-call duties providing care across Intensive Care and Enhanced Care services over the three hospital sites. During off-hours, registrars will generally be the most senior resident medical personnel in Critical Care, with continuous backup from an on-call Intensive Care Consultant.
Critical Care Duties
- Participate actively in the resident on-call rota for Intensive and Enhanced Care services at Northwick Park, Ealing, and Central Middlesex hospitals.
- Operate as the senior resident registrar within the Critical Care team with ongoing support from consultant colleagues.
- Assess, investigate, and manage critically ill patients with a variety of pathologies including respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, renal, metabolic, and infectious conditions.
Anaesthetic Duties
- Administer anaesthesia and analgesia for elective and daytime CEPOD surgeries at all trust sites under the immediate supervision of an allocated Anaesthetic Consultant.
- Note that post holders will not be assigned anaesthetic on-call bleeps. Out-of-hours duties relate exclusively to Intensive Care and Enhanced Care.
- Conduct pre-operative assessments and deliver post-operative recovery care.
- Provide advice to surgical and pre-operative teams on preparing patients for surgery.
