Position Overview
Fusion Medical Staffing is inviting applications for a Travel CVOR Technologist role based in Greenville, South Carolina. This 13-week travel assignment offers 40 hours weekly on day shifts. As a CVOR surgical technologist, you will coordinate the setup and maintenance of a sterile operating room environment focused on cardiovascular surgeries, supporting the surgical team to optimize patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize the operating room before cardiovascular surgery procedures.
- Ensure surgical supplies are stocked and verify the proper functioning of surgical devices.
- Assist with patient transport related to surgery when necessary.
- Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and other OR staff to maintain smooth operation flow.
- Anticipate surgeons' instrument requirements and provide timely assistance during procedures.
- Manage specimens carefully adhering to institutional protocols to preserve diagnostic accuracy.
- Maintain sterile techniques in cleaning and sterilization processes following infection control standards.
- Utilize surgical preference cards for specific procedures to aid preparation and execution.
- Stay proficient in various cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical techniques, including open and closed heart surgeries.
- Comply with hospital safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of one year recent experience as a CVOR surgical technologist.
- Active Basic Life Support certification recognized by AHA or ARC.
- Strong critical thinking abilities, excellent service orientation, and effective interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal communication in English.
- Basic computer literacy sufficient to comprehend instructions and documentation.
- Physical capacity to remain stationary, move equipment weighing 50-100 lbs, and perform bending, pushing, and pulling as required.
- Ability to collaborate professionally with diverse personnel and maintain a positive attitude.
- Fine motor skills for precise instrument handling during procedures.
- Mental resilience to manage public interactions, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain focus.
- Clear visual acuity and strong communication aptitude.
Preferred Credentials
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or recognized equivalent is desirable.
- Additional certifications and licenses may be required depending on specific facility requirements.
