Overview
Join the Transportation Operations Management team at Amazon's Sort Centre in Craigieburn as a Transportation Specialist. This role involves managing and coordinating transportation activities on site to ensure smooth yard operations and timely delivery of goods, contributing to world-class service delivery for Amazon customers. Candidates should be prepared for flexibility in shift timings, including day and night shifts.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare and distribute daily End of Shift reports detailing all load arrivals and departures, including causes and actions related to delayed carrier arrivals.
- Coordinate communication between the outbound dock team and the Network Operations Center to explain reasons for late arrivals and departures of drivers.
- Manage escalations with multiple carriers concerning pickup and delivery issues, including notifications about weather impacts on yard operations.
- Develop, communicate, and update daily load plans with internal and external stakeholders such as the NOC.
- Monitor and collaborate with Fulfillment Centre operations, transportation peers, and carriers to ensure punctual trailer movements.
- Aggregate and analyze data from various sources to generate business reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, addressing data integrity and identifying trends for proactive mitigation.
- Engage with carrier and delivery drivers within the yard to uphold organization, safety, and minimize delays.
- Utilize internal platforms such as the Sortation Platform (SSP), Freight Management Console (FMC), and Yard Management System (YMS) for data collection and reporting.
Additional Duties
- Maintain strict adherence to company policies and prioritize safety at all times.
- Support site operations, transportation field teams, and external carriers to ensure defect-free, timely trailer arrivals and departures, preserving a smooth trailer pool flow.
- Comply with regional regulations and company requirements related to size, weight, routing, parking, trailer designations, violation/incident reporting, and mandated break periods.
- Provide operational support across various locations within the node as required, working a 38-hour week with possible overtime.
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12-hour shifts with frequent physical activities including pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching, with or without accommodations.
Basic Qualifications
- Availability for flexible schedules, including weekends, night shifts, and holidays.
- Physical capability to lift up to 49 pounds and remain on foot during extended shifts while performing frequent physical movements.
- Completion of high school or equivalent education.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week plus overtime as necessary.
- Minimum one year of experience with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Previous experience in warehouse, logistics, transportation, or distribution centre functions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with yard management and freight management systems or comparable operational software.
- Experience in coordination with multiple external partners or stakeholders.
- Understanding of load quality standards and freight safety compliance requirements.
- Capability to analyze operational data and prepare performance reporting.
