Role Overview
This position is based at Robertson Barracks in Northern Territory and supports Australia's Defence capabilities through the Defence Theatre Logistics (DTL) contract. The Transport Planner will bridge warehouse teams, customer service, and operations to deliver efficient transport solutions, optimize routes, and ensure high service standards.
Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule multi-modal transport operations to maximize fleet efficiency.
- Use ERP, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and Transport Management Systems (TMS) to handle bookings, tracking, and transport documentation.
- Allocate transport deliveries and pickups among company drivers and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with transport regulations including Chain of Responsibility (COR), fatigue management, and internal policies.
- Coordinate with warehousing to optimize loading, consolidation, and dispatch processes.
- Communicate delivery timelines and service updates to customers.
- Maintain accurate records and assist with carrier utilization reports.
- Support route optimization, cost-saving initiatives, and service enhancements.
- Escalate operational issues affecting service quality to management promptly.
Candidate Profile
- 3 to 5 years' experience in warehouse or distribution operations, reporting, or process improvement.
- Background in supply chain, logistics, Defence contracts, or managing complex operational environments preferred.
- Holding a valid Truck Licence (MR, HR, or HC) is highly preferable.
- Tertiary qualifications in logistics, supply chain management or related fields are viewed favorably.
- Strong skills in requirements gathering, process documentation, and stakeholder communication.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/WMS/TMS software with operational integration experience.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be an Australian citizen.
- Eligibility to obtain and hold an AGSVA Defence Security Clearance (Baseline or above).
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment screening including criminal, medical, and background checks.
