Role overview
Maybank is looking for a thorough and analytical Transaction Monitoring Analyst to support its Financial Crime Compliance function in Singapore. The position focuses on reviewing transaction alerts and investigating activity that could indicate money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, or other forms of financial crime. The role is important to helping the bank meet anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CTF) obligations, as well as internal policy standards.
Key responsibilities
- Examine system-generated alerts and assess whether transactions appear unusual or suspicious.
- Carry out full investigations by reviewing customer profiles, transaction records, and any other relevant supporting details.
- Decide whether an alert should be escalated or closed, and record the justification clearly.
- Write concise investigation notes and decision records that comply with internal processes and regulatory expectations.
- Handle second-level authorization of alerts and provide feedback on analyst findings.
- Work with internal teams to support ongoing monitoring and risk evaluation.
- Suggest updates or improvements to monitoring rules when new risks or patterns are identified.
- Make sure all alerts, investigations, and assigned tasks are completed on time and in line with regulatory and internal deadlines.
- Support monthly reporting for the relevant committees.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent relevant professional qualification is required.
- ACAMS certification or another qualification related to AML or financial crime is preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience in banking or the financial sector, with exposure to business, compliance, or operations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Good analytical and critical thinking skills.
