Role overview

Chevron Traffic Management is looking for a qualified Traffic Management Operative to support road safety work across the Colchester, Lowestoft, Southwold, Ipswich and Halesworth areas. This is a hands-on field role focused on setting up and maintaining safe traffic control arrangements during roadworks.

The position offers guaranteed 48 hours per week with overtime opportunities. Candidates must be comfortable with a flexible schedule, including weekends, and may also need to cover evenings, nights, work away from home during busy periods, and participate in an on-call rota, particularly if they have access to a company van.

A virtual hiring event is being held on 21st and 22nd July from 9:30am to 2pm, giving applicants a chance to meet the team remotely and learn more about the role and benefits.

About the company

Chevron, part of Ramudden Global UK, supports safer roadworks by putting temporary closures, diversion routes and pedestrian paths in place. The team manages the full traffic management setup, including cones, signs, traffic lights and barriers, and operates across the UK.

What you'll do

  • Set up and maintain traffic management systems at roadwork sites.
  • Work with cones, signage, traffic lights, barriers and related equipment.
  • Follow road safety and Chapter 8 requirements while on site.
  • Adapt to changing schedules, peak-period demands and varying shift patterns.
  • Support evening, night, weekend and away-work assignments when required.
  • Take part in the on-call rota where needed.
  • Help guide and mentor new trainees as they learn the role.

Requirements

  • Holding M1/M2 Lantra certification or higher is preferred.
  • Qualifications such as M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, M6 or SLG Unit 2 will also be considered.
  • Good knowledge of Chapter 8 regulations is essential.
  • You must have a full driving licence with no more than 6 points.
  • Any driving ban must have ended at least 5 years ago.
  • You need to be able to pass a drug and alcohol screening before an offer is confirmed.
  • A positive, practical and can-do attitude is expected.
  • Strong adaptability, flexibility and careful attention to detail are important.
  • Willingness to work weekends, nights and away from home when necessary is required.
  • Traffic management training is subject to signing a training agreement.
  • Further medical checks may also be required before appointment.
