Job description

Role overview

The Inverness-based Alba Traffic Management team is looking for Traffic Management Operators to support the setup, upkeep and removal of temporary traffic control measures across high-speed and low-speed roads. The role involves working to company procedures as well as the applicable National Highways Sector Scheme requirements.

What you will do

In this position, you will handle a range of traffic management tasks, including placing and removing equipment such as cones, signs, frames, sandbags and traffic lights. You will also help maintain safe and compliant work zones while coordinating with colleagues on site.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate will bring a strong work ethic, a practical mindset and previous experience working on highways. Exposure to the construction sector is preferred. Lantra-approved 12D or 12 A/B certification is desirable, although applicants who show the right ability and attitude may receive training and development.

A full UK clean driving licence is essential. Having an HGV licence would be an added advantage.

Working style and expectations

The role is physically demanding and suits someone who is flexible, proactive and comfortable taking a hands-on approach. You should be able to spot issues early, think through practical solutions, and work well with others in both formal and informal settings.

Shift work is part of the job, including evenings, night shifts and weekends. Extra hours may be needed when required, even though overtime is not guaranteed. You may also be asked to take part in an on-call rota.

Health, safety and environmental performance are central to the organisation’s standards, and you will be expected to contribute to a zero-harm culture.

Benefits

  • Pension scheme
  • 33 days of annual leave, inclusive of bank holidays
  • Life assurance cover
  • Share saver scheme
