Organisation Overview

Transport for NSW is dedicated to delivering a transport system that is safe, integrated, and efficient, connecting people and communities daily across New South Wales.

Position Summary

This permanent full-time role involves patrolling key road routes and swiftly responding to emergencies to restore normal traffic flow. The position spans multiple depots including Luddenham, Granville, Rockdale, and Mooney Mooney.

Key Duties

  • Conduct regular patrols of major roadways, reacting promptly to unplanned incidents with care and urgency to re-establish normal operating conditions.
  • Evaluate and manage risks, provide initial traffic management, document incidents, assist motorists, and remove minor obstructions to ensure safe and clear roadways.
  • Carry out both routine and specialized manual labor tasks, utilizing various automatic or manual tools as needed, independently or collaboratively.
  • Operate within a 24/7 rotational shift roster to provide continuous coverage.

Candidate Profile

  • Self-motivated and safety-focused with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Strong work ethic with a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
  • Comfortable working in rostered shifts, including nights, early mornings, weekends, and public holidays, with flexibility for extended hours on short notice.
  • Possession of a current unrestricted NSW driver's license is essential.
  • Preferably hold Traffic Controller Cards such as 'Implement Traffic Control Plan' and 'Prepare Work Zone', or willingness to obtain required certifications and training.
