Role Overview and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal teams, logistics partners, quality control, and customers to maintain excellent service standards.
- Represent the company positively at industry-related events, trade shows, customer engagements, and educational forums, acting as a knowledgeable ambassador for both Sucafina and the coffee industry.
- Assist in customer onboarding, contract management, account administration, and ensure smooth communication around orders, shipment schedules, and delivery requirements.
- Understand customer commitments, contract performance, delivery timelines, and payment practices to manage commercial and operational risks effectively.
- Keep precise records of customer data, contracts, CRM inputs, and sales pipeline details.
- Build and nurture relationships with current and potential coffee roasting customers across New Zealand by networking, referrals, and direct outreach.
- Support sales activities including meetings, presentations, coffee tastings, and commercial discussions to drive market growth and customer acquisition.
- Expand knowledge of coffee origins, harvest periods, quality attributes, and global supply chains with exposure to Sucafina's origin network.
- Participate in coffee cuppings and quality-related activities to enhance coffee expertise and credibility.
- Provide market and customer insights to guide sourcing and business planning efforts.
- Stay informed on coffee industry trends, harvest developments, competitor activity, and factors impacting coffee availability, pricing, and customer decisions, sharing relevant intelligence with the team.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant tertiary education in Business, Commerce, Marketing, Hospitality, Food Science, or related disciplines is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Practical experience in coffee, hospitality, foodservice, FMCG, sales, or customer-oriented commercial positions will be considered equivalent.
- Early to mid-level career experience in customer-facing roles such as sales, account support, hospitality, coffee service, or FMCG is preferred.
- Familiarity with coffee preparation, roasting, cupping, specialty coffee, or café operations is desirable but green coffee trading experience is not required.
- Proficiency with CRM platforms, Microsoft Office, or similar business tools is a plus.
Additional Information
This position serves as a trading role designed to develop a career in commercial coffee trade. The Trader will support the expansion of Sucafina New Zealand by strengthening relationships with coffee roasters, discovering new markets, enhancing knowledge of coffee origins and trading, assisting with contracts, and cultivating the skills necessary for successful green coffee trading.
