About the Role
This position focuses on training, assessing, and assisting commercial vehicle drivers to promote safe driving habits, adherence to regulations, and optimal vehicle operation. The job involves practical training sessions, diagnosing vehicle issues, conducting on-road trials, and reporting findings to management.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver both classroom and practical on-road training sessions for drivers of commercial and heavy vehicles.
- Join drivers during trips to observe driving habits, manage operational challenges, and address vehicle concerns.
- Detect skill deficiencies and provide targeted refresher and corrective training as needed.
- Administer driving assessments for new applicants and reassessments for current drivers.
- Participate in vehicle trials when drivers are unavailable or when vehicles are reported non-functional.
- Evaluate vehicle conditions to pinpoint reasons for operational issues based on performance metrics and driver input.
- Assist in driver assignments by evaluating driver compatibility with specific vehicles and routes.
- Manage situations where drivers fail or refuse to report for designated duties.
- Ensure all drivers comply with traffic laws, signaling regulations, and company safety protocols.
- Keep detailed records of driver training, performance evaluations, and compliance documents.
- Compile and deliver reports concerning training outcomes, driver assessments, and vehicle issue analyses to management upon completion.
Eligibility and Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in driving and training drivers of commercial or heavy vehicles.
- Possession of a valid Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) license.
- Familiarity and experience with tractor trailer vehicles including brands like Tata, Ashok Leyland, and Volvo.
- Comprehensive understanding of traffic rules, road safety standards, and signaling conventions.
- Capability to identify and analyze driving errors and vehicle malfunctions through on-road inspection.
- Effective communication, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
- Minimum educational qualification of Matriculation plus two years of additional study.
- Proficiency in Telugu and Hindi languages, along with basic knowledge of English is mandatory.
