Position Overview
The Therapy Area Medical Head steers the medical strategy and operational execution for a specific therapeutic franchise. This role demands scientific excellence and ensures robust collaboration with stakeholders while synchronizing with both global and local business goals. Leading the Franchise Medical team, this position also represents Medical Affairs at the franchise leadership level.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement the Therapy Area Medical Strategy in alignment with global and regional directives, covering launch preparedness, lifecycle management, and patient access initiatives.
- Convert strategic objectives into actionable medical plans for the designated country or cluster.
- Lead and mentor the Therapy Area Medical team, including Medical Leads and Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs).
- Ensure cohesive integration with commercial, regulatory, and access strategies.
- Uphold exceptional medical and scientific standards within the organization.
- Supervise medical information dissemination, evidence generation, and scientific dialogue with key stakeholders.
- Guarantee compliance with pharmacovigilance and regulatory requirements.
- Provide medical insights that influence clinical practice and healthcare policy decisions.
- Support and oversee clinical trials spanning Phase I to IV, Investigator-Initiated Trials (IITs), and Non-Interventional Studies (NIS).
Qualifications and Experience
- Advanced medical or scientific qualification such as MD, MBBS, PharmD, or PhD in Life Sciences; an MBA is an advantage.
- Over ten years of experience within Medical Affairs in the pharmaceutical sector.
- Proven experience with specialty pharmaceutical products.
- In-depth knowledge of the healthcare environment specific to Saudi Arabia.
- Strong leadership background with demonstrated ability to manage and inspire diverse teams.
