Role Overview and Availability

This position as a Tesco Colleague is based at Saffron Walden Express and requires availability primarily between 5:00 AM and 10:00 AM on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday. Contracts guarantee a minimum of 16 hours per week, with options to work as few as 12 hours weekly if preferred. Exact shift schedules will be provided with three weeks' notice and flexibility to accommodate closely matching availability.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent, passionate customer service by engaging naturally with shoppers and understanding their needs.
• Possess knowledge of store products and services to assist customers effectively.
• Assist across different store areas, including service, picking, and restocking.
• Follow workplace training to maintain health, safety, and high service standards.
• Make customer-focused decisions and adhere to routines that optimize service delivery and sales.
• Participate in community, charity, and seasonal store events to foster an inclusive environment.
• Understand and contribute to store performance goals such as sales growth, waste reduction, shrinkage prevention, and profitability.
• Handle merchandise carefully to preserve quality and presentation.

• Occasionally assist with accepting deliveries into the store.

Compensation and Benefits

• Starting pay rate is £13.28 per hour (with higher rates for stores inside the M25 area and possible additional payments depending on location).
