Job description

About Halter

Halter is working to help farmers and graziers build more productive and sustainable operations. Its technology reduces the time and effort tied to traditional farming methods, helping customers manage grazing in a simpler, more efficient way. The company is focused on meaningful impact, solving difficult problems, and supporting an ambitious mission to improve agriculture at scale.

The business is supported by leading investors and is built around a high-performance culture where teamwork, ownership, and effort matter.

About the Role

This Territory Manager position is responsible for growing business and supporting customer success across the South Canterbury region. The role combines sales execution, relationship management, and hands-on territory ownership, with a strong focus on long-term customer value as well as expansion.

You will work with internal partners across Product, Support, and regional sales teams, bringing back field insights that help shape how the platform serves farmers. This is a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover role based in South Canterbury and involves regular travel within the territory.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop new business through proactive outreach, referrals, events, inbound enquiries, and other lead sources.
  • Manage the full pipeline from prospecting and qualification through demonstrations, negotiation, and deal close.
  • Build strong customer partnerships and support account growth through value-based selling and upsell opportunities.
  • Oversee customer onboarding and deployment so new customers have a smooth transition from sale to implementation.
  • Stay closely involved with customers after the sale, helping resolve issues and protect satisfaction.
  • Own the territory with a balanced focus on sales outcomes and customer success.
  • Work with agricultural groups and local stakeholders to strengthen relationships across the beef sector.
  • Capture customer feedback from the field and share it with Support, Product, and R&D teams to help improve the product.
  • Coordinate with Support to resolve customer issues quickly and escalate when needed.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone with strong sales and customer success ability, a practical understanding of beef operations, and the drive to own results in a demanding territory. You should be comfortable balancing growth goals with customer care, thinking critically about trade-offs, and working closely with cross-functional teams.

Experience in value-led selling, pipeline management, and relationship building is important. Knowledge of beef farming is a plus, but a strong interest in the industry and a willingness to learn quickly are also valued. Frequent travel across the territory is part of the role.

Who Can Apply

This role is open to candidates who can take on a contract, onsite position in South Canterbury and are comfortable travelling regularly within the region. Applicants who may not meet every requirement are still encouraged to apply if they believe they are a strong fit.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter explaining their interest in the role and in working with Halter, along with a CV.

Why People Enjoy Working Here

  • The work has real-world impact and contributes to better outcomes for farmers and more sustainable operations.
  • The team is made up of driven, supportive people who enjoy solving difficult problems together.
  • There is room to learn and grow, including autonomy, skill development, and a personal growth fund of $1,000.
  • The environment is fast-moving, ambitious, and built for people who enjoy a challenge.

Additional Information

This opportunity is a fixed-term maternity cover lasting 12 months. The role requires frequent travel and a strong on-the-ground presence in the South Canterbury market. Halter also encourages people from under-represented groups to apply, even if they do not match every requirement listed.
