Job description
About the Company
Halter is focused on helping farmers and graziers build more productive and sustainable operations. Its platform helps remove many of the time-heavy limitations of traditional farming, enabling a calmer, more efficient way to manage cattle and grazing. The company is driven by meaningful work, tough challenges, and a high-performance team culture that values strong effort, care, and smart problem-solving.
The business is supported by leading investors, including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, BOND, DCVC, Blackbird, Promus Ventures, Rocket Lab’s Peter Beck, and Icehouse Ventures.
About the Role
This Territory Manager role covers South Otago and is a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover position. It is based on site and involves regular travel across the region. The role sits at the intersection of sales and customer success, with responsibility for growing the territory, maintaining strong customer outcomes, and representing Halter directly in the field.
You will work closely with teams across Product, Support, regional sales, and R&D to bring back practical insights from customers and help shape product improvements. The position plays an important part in Halter’s broader mission to make half of the world’s habitable landmass more productive and sustainable.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Building new business through outreach, referrals, events, inbound leads, and other prospecting channels.
- Managing the sales cycle from identifying leads through to qualification, demonstrations, negotiation, and closing.
- Maintaining and expanding customer relationships after the sale to drive long-term value and satisfaction.
- Supporting smooth onboarding and deployment so customers get the best possible start with Halter.
- Owning the territory with a strong focus on both growth and customer success across the beef sector.
- Collecting customer and field feedback and sharing it with Support, Product, and R&D teams to inform improvements.
- Working with Support to resolve customer issues quickly and keep customers feeling well supported.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in value-led sales and customer success, including creating opportunities, closing deals, and developing lasting partnerships.
- Ability to identify post-sale growth opportunities and expand customer value through upselling.
- Understanding of beef farming operations, or a strong willingness to learn the industry deeply and quickly.
- A resilient, proactive attitude with the drive to take ownership and deliver results.
- Strong territory management skills and the judgement to balance sales priorities with customer success.
- Good problem-solving ability and a collaborative approach when working with cross-functional teams.
- Comfort with frequent travel throughout the territory.
Why Join Halter
- Work that has real impact on an industry, farmers’ livelihoods, and more sustainable land use.
- A team of talented, driven people who tackle complex problems and push one another to do great work.
- Room to grow through autonomy, learning, and a $1,000 personal growth fund.
- A fast-moving, ambitious environment where the work is challenging but rewarding.
