Role Purpose

This position is responsible for carrying out bottle packing activities for potent oral solid dosage products safely and accurately, while following cGMP, containment, quality, and EHS requirements. The role also ensures correct documentation and protection of operator safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run bottle packing lines for potent products in line with approved batch production records and standard operating procedures.
  • Carry out bottle feeding, tablet filling, cotton insertion, capping, sealing, labelling, and final packing activities.
  • Operate counting and sensor systems correctly, including electronic and mechanical counters.
  • Perform periodic in-process checks for fill count, seal quality, label accuracy, and pack appearance.
  • Manage pack reconciliation, printed material accountability, and the handling of rejects and rework according to procedure.
  • Follow high-potency handling and containment practices throughout all packing operations.
  • Wear the required PPE and respiratory protective equipment, including air suit, respirator, or PAPR, at all times in the potent packing area.
  • Prevent operator exposure, cross-contamination, and mix-ups between products.
  • Follow controlled movement of materials, area segregation, and one-product-one-area requirements.
  • Complete line clearance before batch start and after batch completion as per SOP.
  • Check batch details, components, and documentation before beginning work.
  • Support product and batch changeovers by removing previous batch materials and labels.
  • Ensure equipment status labels are displayed correctly.
  • Record all entries in BPRs, packaging logbooks, reconciliation sheets, and IPC records in real time.
  • Apply ALCOA+ data integrity principles and avoid overwriting or backdating entries.
  • Report and document deviations, discrepancies, and abnormalities immediately.
  • Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits when required.
  • Follow all applicable EHS and safety procedures for potent packing activities.
  • Report spills, exposure risks, unsafe situations, and line abnormalities without delay.
  • Ensure safe segregation and disposal of potent waste, rejected tablets, labels, bottles, and printed material.
  • Maintain housekeeping and 5S discipline in the packing area.
  • Work with IPQA, QC, Warehouse, and Engineering teams to resolve operational issues.
  • Take part in Kaizen activities, OPLs, and training sessions.
  • Assist in training new operators under supervision.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical discipline with pharmaceutical experience.
  • Candidates with 6 to 12 years of relevant pharma packing experience may also be considered.
  • 6 to 12 years of experience in OSD bottle packing is required, preferably in potent or high-potency products.
  • Prior exposure to controlled or potent packing areas is preferred.
