Job description

Overview

Gympie Regional Council is recruiting a Team Member Grading Level 5 based at the Kilkivan Depot. The role supports the delivery of council infrastructure works through a mix of labouring, plant operation and truck driving duties within a multi-skilled team. The work contributes to the construction and upkeep of council assets in line with relevant standards.

Pay and conditions

The role offers a weekly remuneration of $1,448.90, equivalent to an annual salary starting from $75,342, plus superannuation of up to 15%. Council also highlights a fortnightly rostered day off. Applications close on Sunday 19 July 2026 at 11:00 pm AEST. Late submissions will not be accepted, and only applications lodged through Council's online system will be considered. Unsolicited applications from agencies will not be reviewed.

Key duties

Responsibilities include operating and maintaining medium-complexity plant and equipment, completing labouring tasks safely and efficiently, supporting continuous improvement, helping introduce technology that assists a mobile workforce, contributing to local procedures, and working both independently and collaboratively with other council teams.

What you need to bring

Applicants should be able to handle specialised work involving plant, vehicles, equipment and tools with confidence. The position also calls for physical capability for regular heavy lifting and bending, the ability to maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and the public, and the skill to plan and organise complex road construction and maintenance tasks with limited supervision.

Mandatory requirements

You must hold a current Queensland HR class driver’s licence or a higher class, along with any other licences or competencies needed for plant, equipment or truck operation at this award level. A current Queensland General Construction Induction card (White/Blue Card) or equivalent is also required, as well as Conduct Roller Operations or an equivalent qualification.

Benefits

Council offers a broad range of employee benefits, including health and wellness programs, salary sacrifice options, salary packaging arrangements, access to professional development and education assistance, employee assistance support for staff and their families, long service leave after seven years, and subsidised fitness access through Fitness Passport. It also provides a nine-day fortnight and a generous superannuation scheme of up to 15%.

Candidates will be assessed against Council values, including accountability, communication, customer service, integrity, and teamwork with collaboration. The organisation also states that it is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from suitably qualified people, including First Nations applicants and people from diverse social, cultural and gender backgrounds.

Applicants are asked to download and review the position description, complete the application form using a personal email address, upload a resume, covering letter and a single document containing relevant qualifications, licences or tickets, and then proceed through the final submission steps.
