Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Team Leader for our Global Trade Management team based in Frankfurt, Germany. This position guides a team of Trade Compliance professionals to ensure compliance in operations, achieve key performance indicators, mitigate risks, and uphold excellent client service standards.
Key Duties
- Lead and supervise a group of Trade Compliance staff including Coordinators, Specialists, and Associates, promoting high performance and engagement.
- Manage workload distribution, establish priorities, and ensure the compliance activities are executed accurately and timely, maintaining superior customer service.
- Serve as the primary escalation contact for operational or compliance challenges within the team.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, deliver coaching, and mentor team members to support their professional growth.
- Ensure that Trade Compliance policies, standard operating procedures, and work instructions are kept current and properly followed.
- Oversee operational trade compliance functions such as HS tariff classification, determination of preferential origin, customs compliance audits, and other relevant processes.
- Stay abreast of changes in customs laws, export regulations, sanctions, and international trade rules; implement updates accordingly.
- Maintain strong customer relations by proactively addressing risks, escalating issues when necessary, and ensuring service level agreements and KPIs are consistently met.
- Analyze complex compliance questions, propose practical solutions, and communicate recommendations clearly to customers and internal teams.
- Support business development by identifying opportunities to expand Trade Compliance services and contributing to financial and go-to-market objectives.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Customs, International Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Have a minimum of five years’ experience in customs, import/export operations, or international trade compliance.
- Demonstrate strong expertise in customs regulations, import/export procedures, and global trade compliance requirements.
- Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with analytical thinking and effective problem-solving ability, making informed decisions.
- Experience with SAP, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office tools is advantageous.
- Fluency in English, written and spoken.
- Proven leadership capabilities with the skills to inspire and develop a motivated team.
- Strong organizational aptitude to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Customer-centric approach with dedication to delivering quality service.
- Adept at building robust relationships internally and externally across diverse cultural and functional backgrounds.
