Job description

Role overview

Winterslow Church of England Primary School is looking for a dependable, warm and proactive person to take on a blended Teaching Assistant and Midday Supervisory Assistant position. In this role, you will help children with their learning in class and also oversee pupils during the lunchtime break, contributing to a safe, encouraging and well-organised school day.

The school values a positive attitude, strong people skills and a clear commitment to supporting children’s wellbeing. This is a meaningful opportunity to play an important part in school life and to work alongside staff to help pupils thrive.

The two elements of the post are linked, so if one element ends, the other must end at the same time.

Pay and contract

This is a permanent, part-time position. The combined working time is 20 hours each week across 38 weeks of the year, excluding training days. The Teaching Assistant element is 15 hours per week and the Midday Supervisory Assistant element is 5 hours per week.

Teaching Assistant pay is set at D4-D6, with an FTE salary range of £25,185 to £25,989, which equates to an actual salary of £8,556 to £8,830 per year. The MDSA element is paid at B3 with an FTE salary of £24,796, equivalent to an actual salary of £2,808 per year.

Working hours are Monday to Friday. The Teaching Assistant hours are 8:30am to 11:30am, and the Midday Supervisory Assistant hours are 12:00 noon to 1:00pm.

The school is open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Important dates

The application closing time is midday on Friday, 26 June 2026. Interviews are scheduled for Tuesday, 30 June 2026. The expected start date is 1 September 2026.

The school also uses restorative practice and a “learning gems” approach to create a caring environment where children can grow with confidence.

How applications are handled

Applications must be submitted through the specified recruitment system; CVs will not be accepted. If you would like further information about the role, you can contact the headteacher directly.

The school may close the vacancy before the advertised deadline if enough suitable applications are received.

Equality, safeguarding and recruitment checks

Pickwick Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, so applicants must declare all criminal convictions, cautions, warnings and reprimands, including those that are spent.

An enhanced DBS check will be required before employment starts. References may be requested at shortlisting stage and may also be considered during interview. Any employment history gaps must be clearly explained in the application.

As part of safer recruitment, an online search will be carried out for shortlisted candidates using publicly available information. Shortlisted applicants may be asked to clarify anything found online.

The trust welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences, and it is especially supportive of applicants who may need reasonable adjustments, including disabled and neurodivergent candidates.
