Job description
About the Role
Dynacare is hiring an experienced Talent Acquisition Specialist to support recruiting across British Columbia’s Interior/Okanagan region. This 12-month contract is a chance to take on a strategic recruitment role in one of Canada’s most challenging healthcare hiring markets. You will help shape talent pipelines for difficult-to-fill positions while partnering with hiring leaders and community partners to better understand regional workforce needs.
The role is based in British Columbia and operates in a hybrid work model, with most work completed from home and occasional attendance at office meetings and career events as required. This is a full-time contract position with benefits eligibility.
What You Will Do
You will manage full-cycle hiring activity, build sustainable local talent networks, and support candidate attraction efforts through targeted sourcing and relationship-building. The role also involves advising leaders on hiring approaches, labour market conditions, and compliance considerations while delivering a strong candidate experience throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop trusted, consultative relationships with hiring leaders by learning their business priorities, workforce challenges, and regional hiring needs across the Interior/Okanagan area.
- Serve as a recruitment specialist by offering market intelligence, hiring guidance, and practical strategies for filling hard-to-source positions.
- Create and implement focused sourcing plans using job ads, ATS tools, social media, job boards, and community networks to attract a diverse applicant pool.
- Build long-term talent pipelines through ongoing engagement with candidates, schools, professional groups, and community organizations.
- Handle end-to-end recruitment activities such as screening, interviewing, assessing applicants, and coordinating offers with Human Resources.
- Use the Applicant Tracking System to track pipelines, maintain data accuracy, and produce recruitment reports that support workforce planning.
- Make sure recruiting activity meets service level agreements while maintaining quality-of-hire standards and a positive candidate journey.
- Advise hiring managers on recruitment policies, employment laws, and best practices to reduce risk and support compliant hiring decisions.
- Work with the broader HR team to support smooth onboarding and early integration for new hires.
- Take part in and help organize hiring events, career fairs, and community outreach activities that strengthen the company’s regional employer brand.
What You Bring
You should have a strong grasp of recruiting best practices and relevant employment legislation, along with the ability to work effectively in complex and competitive labour markets. Experience building pipelines and using creative sourcing methods is especially important for this position.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Knowledge of recruitment methods and employment legislation, supported by credentials such as CHRP, RPR, AIRS, or an equivalent qualification.
- Post-secondary studies in Business, Human Resources, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of recruitment experience, including work with high-volume and/or hard-to-fill frontline roles in competitive markets.
- Proven ability to create talent pipelines and apply innovative sourcing strategies to address regional hiring shortages, especially in the Interior/Okanagan region.
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to work well with hiring leaders and local talent communities.
Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with Applicant Tracking Systems and digital sourcing platforms, including LinkedIn Recruiter and similar social tools.
- Advanced sourcing capability using Boolean search, X-Ray search, and market mapping to identify suitable candidates in difficult hiring areas.
- Intermediate to advanced skill in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook, for analysis, reporting, and coordination.
- Ability to use online platforms such as LinkedIn, niche job boards, and professional networks to support targeted recruitment strategies.
Interpersonal Strengths
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interviews, presentations, reports, and employment correspondence.
- Strong collaboration and problem-solving ability, with confidence in influencing stakeholders across HR, hiring teams, and community partners.
- Clear and persuasive communication style that can promote Dynacare’s employer brand in competitive talent markets.
- Ability to build trust-based relationships and provide a responsive, consultative experience to candidates and managers.
- Commitment to an inclusive, candidate-focused recruitment process from start to finish.
Working Conditions
- Extended periods of sitting and computer use are part of the role.
- Travel to career events may be required.
Compensation and Hiring Notes
The salary range for this position is CAD 75,000 to CAD 85,000 per year. Final compensation will depend on factors such as relevant experience and education.
