Job description
Overview
We are seeking an experienced and driven Supply Chain Manager to aid our development teams and manufacturing partners in the industrialization and administration of efficient, cost-effective direct material supply chains. This may cover components essential for Tesla vehicles, energy systems, battery production, or other critical elements necessary for operational success.
This position is part of the Supply Chain Organization and reports directly to the Supply Chain Group Manager. The role supports various Engineering and Global Supply Management teams, requiring excellent communication with internal and external stakeholders, travel to global suppliers, and decisive problem-solving on site. The Supply Chain Manager fosters strong supplier relationships to ensure optimal supply continuity, competitive pricing, flexibility, quality, and timely delivery.
Key Duties
- Maintain visibility on component supply and partner with Global Supply Managers and Supplier Industrialization Engineers to address supplier performance and delivery challenges.
- Develop and oversee supplier relationships at both managerial and operational levels, including conflict resolution.
- Lead initiatives to improve supplier scalability, cost efficiency, and quality, particularly during New Product Introduction.
- Facilitate clear communication of technical specifications between suppliers and Tesla's Purchasing, Quality, and Design teams.
- Manage supplier manufacturing process development, launch preparedness for new products, and design modifications.
- Take charge of resolving supply shortages or allocation issues impacting regional operations.
- Coordinate change management activities related to regional supply by aligning cross-functional teams globally.
- Evaluate supplier proposals, providing recommendations to achieve cost savings, avoidances, or cost control.
- Collaborate with multiple Tesla global teams to guide supplier selection and conduct value analysis.
- Drive negotiations on pricing and product development to meet Tesla’s best-cost and quality standards.
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, or similar qualification/expertise.
- Minimum of three years managing AC charging products, custom connectors, wiring harnesses, or other power distribution commodities.
- Strong multitasking, prioritization, and adaptability skills suitable for a high-velocity environment.
- Excellent program management capabilities and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Background in automotive, energy, or electronics sectors is advantageous.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
- Preparedness for business travel as needed.
- Commitment to and promotion of sustainability, aligning with Tesla’s Environmental, Health, Safety & Security standards and EMAS policies to encourage ongoing environmental advancement.
