Job Overview

The role involves developing inspection requirements for high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) electrical equipment according to technical specifications, standards, and codes. The candidate will independently lead kickoff and pre-fabrication meetings with both domestic and international suppliers, review quality documents including QAP/ITP and FAT/SAT procedures, and participate actively in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for various electrical components.

Responsibilities

  • Create inspection criteria for HV and LV electrical items based on applicable specs and standards.
  • Lead kickoff and pre-fabrication meetings with suppliers worldwide.
  • Review supplier quality documentation such as quality assurance plans, inspection test plans, and compliance reports.
  • Lead or assist in FATs for equipment like switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, battery banks, motors, cables, MCCs, control panels, and protection devices.
  • Conduct shop assessments for supplier facilities both domestic and international.
  • Perform quality surveillance visits and inspections as per approved QA plans.
  • Verify that equipment conforms to project specifications and standards including IEC, IEEE, and NEC.
  • Prepare inspection reports, highlight non-conformities, and manage supplier corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and engineering on resolving technical queries and deviations.
  • Review and approve vendor manufacturing records and quality certificates before shipment.
  • Provide technical guidance during equipment evaluation, vendor qualification, and procurement phases.
  • Develop Field Quality Plans and site testing procedures in line with client specifications and codes.
  • Ensure timely issuance of inspection notes and readiness of equipment for dispatch.
  • Support installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning teams with technical clarifications.
  • Maintain document control and quality compliance during audits.
  • Ensure all inspections and FAT activities meet project timelines and quality standards.
  • Implement and maintain a lessons learned program throughout project execution.
  • Conduct frequent visits to domestic and international suppliers.
  • Experience with expediting activities is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in electrical equipment quality and inspection roles.
  • Proficient in conducting FAT for HV/MV/LV electrical equipment and reporting results.
  • Knowledgeable in reviewing supplier quality documents including QAP/ITP and FAT procedures.
  • Hands-on inspection experience with switchgear, transformers, UPS, batteries, motors, MCCs, panels, cables, and protection devices.

Additional Information

This position requires onsite work based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The job is full-time and intended for experienced professionals. The posting remains open for a minimum of 72 hours and continues until the appropriate candidate is selected. No travel requirement is specified beyond supplier visits, which may be frequent and international or domestic. Expediting experience is considered an advantage for this role.
