Job description
Role overview
This position sits within the Food & Beverage / Culinary function and is based in Doha, Qatar at the Salwa Road property. It is a full-time, non-management role within the banquet operations team.
What you will do
- Keep banquet service teams working together smoothly and maintain a strong team spirit.
- Check employees’ grooming and uniforms, and correct any lapses in presentation.
- Coordinate with guests, colleagues, and other departments so customer needs are met properly.
- Work to accommodate special banquet arrangements and event requirements wherever possible.
- Prepare banquet rooms, ensuring the space is clean and that furniture and equipment are set up correctly.
- Review table setups to ensure cleanliness, style, group standards, and company standards are met, and resolve issues when they arise.
- Record important service details in the logbook.
- Support management with hiring, training, scheduling, performance review, coaching, discipline reminders, and employee motivation.
- Build positive, professional working relationships with peers and collaborate to achieve shared goals.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, report maintenance issues, hazards, accidents, and injuries, and complete required safety training and certifications.
- Protect company property and respect confidentiality of proprietary information.
- Treat coworkers with dignity and respect and support the team in reaching common objectives.
- Maintain quality assurance expectations and standards.
- Handle physical duties such as lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing items up to 50 lb (22.7 kg) without assistance, and help move items above 75 lb (34 kg).
- Remain standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods or for an entire shift.
- Read and visually check information in different formats, including small print.
- Grasp, turn, and manipulate items of different sizes and weights with strong hand-eye coordination and fine motor control.
- Reach above the head and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Move across inclined, uneven, or slippery surfaces and use stairs and service ramps.
- Greet and acknowledge guests according to company standards.
- Speak clearly and professionally, answer calls with proper phone etiquette, and use courteous language in all communication.
- Listen carefully and respond appropriately to guest and employee concerns.
- Carry out other duties assigned by managers that align with the position.
Recommended qualifications
A secondary school diploma or an equivalent qualification is preferred. At least 1 year of related work experience and 1 year of supervisory experience are required. No license or certification is listed.
