Job description
Role Overview
This full-time banquet captain position within the food and beverage and culinary function is based in Doha, Qatar, at the Salwa Road location. It is an on-site, non-management role focused on delivering smooth banquet service, coordinating teams, and maintaining high hospitality standards.
What You Will Do
- Coordinate banquet staff so service runs as a well-organized team.
- Check employee grooming and attire, and correct any presentation issues.
- Work with guests, colleagues, and other departments to make sure event and service needs are met.
- Handle special banquet arrangements and help ensure they are delivered as requested.
- Prepare banquet rooms and service areas, including furniture and equipment setup, cleanliness, and overall readiness.
- Review table arrangements for cleanliness, order, and compliance with event instructions and company standards, and address any issues found.
- Record relevant updates and incidents in the department logbook.
- Support management with hiring, training, scheduling, reviewing performance, counseling, discipline, coaching, and employee motivation.
- Build strong working relationships and help the team achieve shared goals.
- Follow all company policies plus safety and security procedures, and report accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions.
- Complete required safety training and certifications.
- Keep uniform and personal appearance neat and professional, protect confidential information, and safeguard company property.
- Greet guests according to service standards, identify service needs in advance, support guests with disabilities, and express sincere thanks.
- Communicate clearly and professionally, including proper telephone etiquette.
- Maintain required quality standards in all tasks.
- Read and verify information in different formats, including small print.
- Stand, sit, or walk for long periods, including an entire shift when needed.
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and position items up to 50 pounds alone and more than 75 pounds with assistance.
- Handle objects of different sizes and weights with precision and coordination.
- Work on sloped, uneven, or slippery surfaces and move up or down stairs and service ramps.
- Reach above shoulder level and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Carry out any other job-related duties reasonably assigned.
Preferred Background
- A high school diploma or GED-equivalent qualification is preferred.
- At least 1 year of relevant work experience is preferred.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience is preferred.
- No license or certification is required.
