Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and meticulous Structural Inspector to join our supervision team in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The primary responsibility is to ensure that all structural construction activities comply fully with approved IFC drawings, shop drawings, method statements, and relevant regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily inspections of all structural work, verifying adherence to IFC drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and approved methods.
- Oversee contractor operations to confirm compliance with UAE regulatory requirements and international standards.
- Detect deviations or issues and generate Site Observation Reports and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) as necessary.
- Inspect and validate aspects including concrete works, reinforcement, formwork, structural steel, foundations, and waterproofing interfaces.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and specialists to address structural concerns and ensure satisfactory corrective measures.
- Ensure proper documentation, including testing records such as cube tests, Field Density Tests (FDT), plate load tests, and calibration certificates, is maintained by contractors.
- Confirm all activities conform to approved method statements, Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes.
- Provide clear instructions to contractors for timely resolution of structural issues at the site.
- Maintain comprehensive and well-organized inspection documentation, including photographs and comments.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety protocols throughout all inspection procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- At least 8 years of experience in structural site inspection in the UAE construction sector, with preference for consultancy background.
- In-depth knowledge of structural materials, workmanship quality, defect detection, and typical deterioration patterns.
- Strong familiarity with UAE building codes, local authority regulations, and international standards.
- Competency in interpreting IFC and shop drawings, specifications, Inspection Test Plans, and method statements accurately.
- Experienced in use of standard inspection tools and coordination of site testing.
- Excellent analytical skills focused on identifying non-conformities and drafting precise reports.
- Proficient in technical report writing and digital inspection systems or QA/QC software.
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Valid UAE driving license with ability to travel among project sites.
- Physically able to access structural elements even in confined or elevated locations.
- Strong commitment to health and safety, professional ethics, and maintaining quality standards.
- Ability to work well within a multicultural team and adapt to various site conditions and weather.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications related to site safety, such as OSHA, NEBOSH, or equivalents.
- Experience drafting and managing NCRs and Site Observation Reports.
- Familiarity with inspection software and digital documentation tools.
- Knowledge of concrete testing procedures including cube tests, FDT, and plate load tests.
- Experience in structural steel inspection.
- Skilled in photography and visual documentation used during inspections.
- Arabic language proficiency.
- Availability to start immediately.
