About the Role

Join Wells Fargo's Strategic Investments team as an investment professional responsible for originating, assessing, executing, and managing strategic investment opportunities. Collaborating with senior professionals, you will support the full transaction lifecycle—including underwriting, due diligence, portfolio monitoring, and creating value.

This position offers extensive engagement with venture capital and private equity transactions while working closely with internal stakeholders and industry players.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in sourcing, analyzing, executing, and managing investments as part of a dedicated deal team.
  • Perform portfolio management duties, conduct industry studies, market research, and gather competitive insights to inform investment decisions.
  • Collect and analyze complex datasets using advanced analytics and AI-driven research tools.
  • Build and update financial models, including valuations, scenario planning, restructurings, recapitalizations, and liquidity assessments related to prospective and current investments.
  • Prepare materials for investment committees, transaction documentation, and portfolio reviews.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth transaction approvals, documentation, execution, and investment recording.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships across venture capital, private equity, and the wider innovation ecosystem, partnering internally with Investment Banking, Wealth & Investment Management, and Innovation groups.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in Strategic Investment Management or an equivalent combination of experience, education, or military service.
  • Preferred experience includes 2+ years in investment banking and completion (or expected completion) of a formal investment banking analyst or associate training program.
  • Proficient in financial modeling and valuation techniques such as discounted cash flow, comparable company and precedent transaction analyses, and scenario modeling.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial statement analysis.
  • Experience with structuring and executing private equity, venture capital, growth equity, or credit transactions.
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in fintech, financial services, wealth technology, or broader technology sectors.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal, with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Exemplifies integrity, professionalism, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Self-motivated and capable of handling multiple projects efficiently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Graduate degree in a relevant field is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

The position is based in New York City, with a base annual salary of approximately $150,000. Total pay may vary between $143,000 and $224,000 depending on experience and location, including potential bonuses and long-term incentives such as restricted shares.
