Job description

Overview

Regex SEO, a digital marketing agency specializing in home service businesses like HVAC, plumbing, pest control, and electrical services, is seeking a seasoned Strategic Content Editor. This role is critical due to an upcoming planned leave of the current content head, requiring immediate onboarding and independent operation. The position starts as a contract with a pathway to full-time employment based on performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and validate content strategy before content creation, ensuring alignment with targeting, search intent, and funnel logic.
  • Edit drafts for strategic consistency, confirming persona accuracy, appropriate CTAs according to funnel stages, and satisfaction of targeted search intent.
  • Develop and implement editorial standards, tone of voice guides, and address recurring writing issues collaboratively with the team and leadership.
  • Identify ranking opportunities missed in briefs by analyzing SERPs and adjusting content structure to capture features like snippets or related keywords.
  • Conduct quality assurance covering clarity, flow, tone, accuracy, brand voice, internal linking, metadata, and formatting; formalize the QA process for sustained quality.
  • Provide constructive, strategic feedback to writers that enhances their skills and content performance.

Candidate Profile

  • At least 5 years of editing strategic marketing content in dynamic settings such as agencies, focusing on SEO content, landing pages, email campaigns, and PPC materials.
  • Proficient in analyzing SEO strategy documents for keyword relevance, intent mapping, funnel structure, and content architecture.
  • Highly autonomous with sound editorial judgment and excellent documentation habits for decision-making in a leadership absence.
  • Collaborative team player capable of building trust quickly and delivering feedback that is both candid and empathetic.
  • Ambitious professional eager to assume leadership responsibilities, including mentoring and process development beyond current roles.

What We Offer

  • Initial contract engagement with a clear opportunity for transition to a full-time position contingent on performance.
  • Fully remote work setup requiring significant overlap with Eastern US business hours.
  • Competitive monthly contract compensation ranging between $3,000 and $5,000, commensurate with experience.
  • Upon full-time conversion, the role includes salary, comprehensive benefits, paid time off, and a budget for professional development.
