Team Overview
The Collectibles division at eBay is among its most vibrant and swiftly expanding markets, connecting passionate buyers and sellers across exciting categories such as trading cards, art & antiques, coins, and collectible toys.
Position Summary
We seek a Senior Category Manager responsible for one or multiple prominent categories within the Collectibles portfolio. This role encompasses full ownership of category performance—from strategic planning to initiative execution—with significant influence on business results. The position requires close collaboration with seller-facing teams and cross-functional stakeholders globally, demanding strategic problem-solving and commercial accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end performance of assigned categories including gross merchandise value (GMV), assortment quality, and competitive positioning.
- Develop, implement, and continually refine category strategies informed by market trends, buyer behavior, and seller insights.
- Identify and prioritize growth opportunities, overseeing their cross-departmental execution.
- Leverage data analytics and market research to pinpoint drivers of performance, challenge assumptions, and guide category direction.
- Shape seller engagement strategies in partnership with Account Management, including involving top sellers and participating in industry events such as trade fairs.
- Collaborate extensively with seller teams and internal partners across product, marketing, and finance to align priorities, unlock growth prospects, and remove obstacles.
Candidate Profile
- Master's degree or equivalent qualification.
- At least five years of relevant experience in category management, ecommerce, or commercial roles.
- Proven track record in successfully growing categories or business segments with measurable commercial impact.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combining structured approaches with a results-oriented mindset.
- Ability to translate strategic plans into actionable initiatives effectively within dynamic environments.
- Experience in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management at internal and external levels.
- Independent working capability with sound prioritization and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Fluency in both German and English languages.
