Job description

Role overview

CVS Health is looking for a Store Manager in Training (SMIT) to prepare for a future Store Manager position. This is a development-oriented opportunity designed to build leadership capability through a structured 16-week training program that combines self-paced learning with collaborative, virtual, and on-the-job experience.

The role is part of CVS Health’s broader mission to create a more connected, convenient, and compassionate health experience for individuals, families, and communities. Team members are expected to work in an environment focused on accountability, innovation, safety, and quality.

Training and support

You will learn with guidance from several leaders, including a District Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, Training Store Manager, and a Store Manager coach. The program is intended to strengthen the skills needed to step into store leadership responsibilities.

What the role involves

  • Develop leadership capability through structured learning experiences and active participation in the training program.
  • Support the store as a member of the management team while leading in a way that reflects CVS values and policies.
  • Help deliver strong customer service and care in daily store operations.
  • Contribute to merchandising efforts that support store sales growth.
  • Oversee inventory and store assets with a focus on efficiency and profitability.
  • Encourage and engage colleagues in support of CVS Health’s purpose of helping people on their path to better health.
  • Remain open to promotion within the market and to transferring among CVS Pharmacy stores within the designated market.

Qualifications and expectations

Selection for this position does not guarantee a later promotion to Store Manager. Advancement depends on several factors, including performance and the availability of openings.

  • Willingness to accept a Store Manager promotion at any location in the designated market.
  • Ability to transfer to other CVS Pharmacy locations within the designated market.
  • Flexibility to work a schedule that may change based on business requirements.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred, though relevant work experience may be considered instead of a college degree.
  • Retail management experience or prior experience as a CVS Supervisor is required/preferred for consideration.

Work schedule

The role is full time with an anticipated weekly schedule of 45 hours.

Pay and benefits

The expected hourly pay range for this role is $18.50 to $23.88. The actual offer will depend on factors such as experience, education, geography, and other relevant considerations.

This full-time position is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, subject to eligibility. Benefits may include medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, retirement savings options, wellness programs, and other support resources for colleagues and their families.

Equal opportunity and hiring note

Applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered in line with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

Application timing

The expected closing date for applications is 08/15/2026.
