Role Overview
As a Stockperson/Cartpusher, you will help ensure a safe, tidy, and inviting shopping environment by gathering shopping carts from designated areas and returning them securely to storage locations following approved methods. Your role involves engaging with customers courteously, prioritizing safety, and contributing to seamless store operations while enhancing your skills in retail, customer service, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Retrieve shopping carts from cart corrals, parking areas, and store edges, then return them safely to assigned storage spots per Walmart's protocols, maintaining accurate log records.
- Address requests promptly from registers and Customer Service, assist customers with carrying purchases in and out, and verify receipts when necessary.
- Perform occasional cleaning and maintenance tasks like restroom upkeep, adhering strictly to chemical handling, disposal, and power equipment safety rules. Conduct mandatory equipment inspections before use.
- Comply with all safety and emergency procedures, including hazardous materials communication, lockout/tagout processes, and bloodborne pathogen guidelines to uphold a secure environment.
- Utilize required personal protective gear such as steel-toe shoes and reflective vests, conduct safety sweeps as needed, and follow company policies to maintain a safe workspace.
- Exhibit schedule flexibility by working varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support continuous, quality service.
Workplace Challenges
- Function efficiently in a fast-paced setting with high workloads, especially managing overnight shifts to maintain energy and concentration.
- Handle physically demanding duties involving prolonged standing, bending, and lifting items weighing up to 20 lbs, and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
- Carry out repetitive tasks such as stocking, zoning, and organizing products with consistent attention to detail and adherence to store standards.
