Job description
Role summary
aljeel Medical is hiring a Stock Control & WMS Leader in Riyadh to own the accuracy of inventory records across all warehouses. This position is critical because reliable inventory data underpins days on hand, expiry control, and on-time-in-full performance. If the stock record is wrong, capital gets tied up, expiry issues remain hidden, and fulfilment commitments can fail against stock that appears available only on paper.
The role also has a major project responsibility over the next 12 months: serving as a key member of the Oracle WMS implementation team. In that capacity, the person will lead the inventory and stock-control setup for the new system and help transfer disciplined stock control from a 3PL model into aljeel's own warehouse operations.
Roles and responsibilities
- Maintain end-to-end inventory record accuracy across all warehouses and act as the inventory authority for the WMS initiative.
- Keep perpetual stock accuracy above the management-approved threshold by running a structured cycle-count program instead of depending on annual full physical counts.
- Match system stock to physical stock, investigate the root cause of every variance, and steadily reduce unexplained adjustments and shrinkage.
- Apply FEFO and lot-level controls so near-expiry and expiring stock is identified early enough for commercial action, while keeping expiry exposure within the agreed percentage of inventory value.
- Lead the inventory and stock-control workstream on the Oracle WMS project, including item and location master data, slotting and bin rules, cycle-count and adjustment workflow design, and user acceptance testing for inventory functions before go-live.
- Create consistent stock-control SOPs across all sites so counting, adjustments, and write-offs follow the same controlled process everywhere.
- Build, coach, and manage the stock-controller team across the three warehouses, establishing one standard for accuracy and accountability.
- Prepare dependable inventory ageing and slow-moving/excess reports that help planning and commercial teams reduce DIO without harming OTIF performance.
- Keep inventory records ready for audit and inspection under SFDA and GDP expectations, while preserving lot traceability for recall and field safety response.
Key deliverables and success measures
- Inventory record accuracy maintained above the agreed benchmark across Riyadh, Dammam, and Jeddah, measured through cycle counts rather than year-end stocktakes.
- Clear and sustained improvement in unexplained stock variance and the value of adjustments.
- Expiry exposure controlled below the agreed share of inventory value through early FEFO-based alerts.
- A smooth Oracle WMS go-live for inventory and stock-control modules, with accurate master data, functioning cycle-count and adjustment processes, and trained controllers working in the system.
- Inventory ageing information trusted by planning and commercial teams for action on slow-moving and excess stock.
Required qualifications and experience
- A bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, industrial engineering, or a similar discipline.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in inventory or stock control within a distribution business, preferably in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or another regulated environment where expiry and lot control matter.
- Direct hands-on involvement in an Oracle WMS deployment as part of an implementation or go-live team, not only as a system user. This is mandatory for the next 12 months.
- Proven success in running cycle-count programs and resolving book-to-physical differences, beyond simply maintaining records.
Skills and competencies
- Oracle WMS deployment, including master data, slotting/bin logic, cycle-count and adjustment workflow configuration, and UAT.
- Designing and managing inventory accuracy and cycle-count programs.
- Reconciling book stock to physical stock and identifying variance root causes.
- Controlling FEFO, expiry, and obsolescence at lot level.
- Strong ERP and inventory data analysis skills, with the ability to interrogate data deeply rather than only review reports.
- Working knowledge of GDP and ISO 13485 inventory and traceability expectations.
- Experience supporting a transition from 3PL warehousing to owned warehouse operations.
- Exposure to cold-chain and high-value SKU handling in a medical distribution environment.
Language requirement
English proficiency at a professional working level is required. Arabic proficiency is preferred.
Work relationships and communication
This role works closely with internal and external stakeholders across operations, systems, quality, finance, and warehousing.
Internal stakeholders
- Director, Supply Chain & Operations, for reporting and escalation.
- Warehouse Managers across the three locations.
- Supply and Demand Planning, plus Procurement, for ageing, excess, and replenishment inputs.
- Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs for quality holds, lot traceability, and audit readiness.
- Finance for inventory valuation, write-offs, and working capital reporting.
- The Oracle WMS project team and IT for deployment, configuration, and data migration.
External stakeholders
- Oracle WMS implementation partner / system integrator.
- The current 3PL provider during the transition away from outsourced warehousing.
- External and regulatory auditors for inventory and traceability checks.
