Role overview
This position supports nursing operations through two core functions: staffing and scheduling. The role helps patient care units understand workforce needs and available staffing support across the Department of Nursing on a shift-by-shift basis.
The clerk also reviews staffing recommendation reports to help distribute available resources appropriately. In addition, the position helps orient nurse managers, nursing supervisors, and registered nurses to staffing procedures.
Working in coordination with the supervisor of the staffing office and nurse managers, the clerk assists with workload analysis and staffing or scheduling recommendations for assigned areas. The role includes creating base schedules and maintaining posted employee schedules.
This job also involves close coordination with Human Resources regarding open, vacant, and filled positions within the Department of Nursing. The work must be carried out with strong problem-solving ability and a commitment to ongoing self-development in the role.

Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED is required. The ideal candidate should have a working understanding of computer systems, strong keyboarding ability, and practical experience with Windows-based tools, LAN usage, and intranet/internet navigation.
Additional qualifications include proficiency with word processing and spreadsheets, the ability to build effective working relationships, strong verbal and written communication skills, and comfort handling frequent and complex interpersonal interactions.
The role also calls for solid organizational and problem-solving abilities, independence in day-to-day work, and the capacity to prioritize effectively while meeting deadlines in a setting with frequent interruptions and shifting workloads.
Schedule and employment details
This is a nonexempt, part-time role in the Nursing department. Benefits are eligible. The schedule is 48 hours per pay period.
Shift details are 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with days varying. The weekend rotation is every fourth weekend, with hours from 4:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. This is an on-site position; remote work is not offered. International assignment status: no.
