Position Overview
Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join their dedicated Neonatal Team in Milton Keynes, England. The role involves providing exceptional, family-focused care to infants in need of neonatal support within a Level 2 Neonatal Unit comprising 16 beds.

- Position: Band 5 Neonatal Nurse
- Hours: Part-time (34.5 hours per week), with flexible working options
- Salary: £32,073 - £39,043 per annum (pro rata)
- Work Environment: Onsite at Milton Keynes University Hospital

Responsibilities
The nurse will deliver compassionate, high-quality neonatal care as part of a multidisciplinary team. Duties include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized care plans for neonates while also providing support to parents throughout the neonatal care process.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse qualification in Adult or Paediatric nursing, or Registered Midwife
- Passion for neonatal care and commitment to safety and effectiveness
- Newly qualified nurses and experienced practitioners aiming to develop neonatal expertise are encouraged to apply
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to function well within a team
- Capability to work efficiently in a physically and emotionally demanding setting
- Strong clinical judgment and a zeal for continuous professional development
- Commitment to completing the Neonatal Qualified in Specialty (QIS) Programme within three years
- Previous neonatal experience is desirable but not mandatory
Training and Progression
Successful applicants will be supported with a comprehensive preceptorship, neonatal-specific education and training, and various professional advancement opportunities. They will enrol in Foundation QIS and Neonatal Intensive Care courses with pathways to senior clinical, leadership, education, and specialist neonatal roles.
