Key responsibilities

The Staff Nurse will be responsible for planning and delivering individualised care in line with best practice, HIQA standards, and current evidence-based nursing research. The role also involves working closely with residents, their families or guardians, and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

• Assess, design, implement, and review personalised resident care plans within the agreed care framework.
• Provide holistic, resident-focused nursing care that supports independence and quality of life.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with residents and their families or guardians.
• Collaborate with all relevant members of the multidisciplinary team to support resident wellbeing.
• Keep clear, accurate, and up-to-date written records and care reports.
• Promote a care culture grounded in quality, evidence-based practice, safety, dignity, and respect.
• Support a model of care that encourages autonomy, informed consent, and resident participation.
• Advocate for residents and their families, helping them make informed decisions, set goals, solve problems, and engage in community-based activities.

Requirements

• Recognised nursing qualification is required.
• Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland is essential.
• At least 3 years’ experience as a Staff Nurse in a nursing home is desirable.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development must be provided.
• Strong leadership ability and the administrative knowledge needed to carry out the role effectively are required.
• Candidates must be eligible to work in the Republic of Ireland.
• Flexibility to work weekdays and weekends as needed is expected.
