Key responsibilities
The Staff Nurse will be responsible for planning and delivering individualised care in line with best practice, HIQA standards, and current evidence-based nursing research. The role also involves working closely with residents, their families or guardians, and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes.
- Assess, design, implement, and review personalised resident care plans within the agreed care framework.
- Provide holistic, resident-focused nursing care that supports independence and quality of life.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with residents and their families or guardians.
- Collaborate with all relevant members of the multidisciplinary team to support resident wellbeing.
- Keep clear, accurate, and up-to-date written records and care reports.
- Promote a care culture grounded in quality, evidence-based practice, safety, dignity, and respect.
- Support a model of care that encourages autonomy, informed consent, and resident participation.
- Advocate for residents and their families, helping them make informed decisions, set goals, solve problems, and engage in community-based activities.
Requirements
- Recognised nursing qualification is required.
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland is essential.
- At least 3 years’ experience as a Staff Nurse in a nursing home is desirable.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development must be provided.
- Strong leadership ability and the administrative knowledge needed to carry out the role effectively are required.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the Republic of Ireland.
- Flexibility to work weekdays and weekends as needed is expected.
