Role overview

Craddock House Nursing Home in Naas, County Kildare is looking for a full-time Healthcare Assistant to join its care team. The role is based onsite at Craddockstown Road, Naas, Kildare, and sits within the Virtue Integrated Elder Care Group.

The successful candidate will help create a supportive, respectful, and homely environment for residents while working in line with the home’s values of communication, privacy, respect and dignity, choice, independence, individuality, rights, and community partnership.

Key responsibilities

  • Support residents with person-centred, holistic care while protecting equality and dignity at all times.
  • Carry out delegated direct-care duties and help with everyday living activities such as washing, toileting, dressing, undressing, dining, social participation, conversation, and communication support.
  • Safeguard resident privacy, encourage independence, and provide extra support to people with reduced mobility.
  • Follow care plans carefully and inform nursing staff promptly of any changes in a resident’s physical or mental condition.
  • Report any actual or possible incident that could affect the safety or wellbeing of residents, visitors, or staff.
  • Help maintain a safe and secure environment throughout the home.
  • Communicate appropriately with residents and their family members or representatives.
  • Support and help improve resident activities and events.

Essential criteria

  • QQI Level 5 in Healthcare, or an equivalent qualification.
  • At least 2 years of experience in elder care.
  • Alternatively, a Nursing, Allied Health, or Healthcare-related degree.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Well-developed supervisory and motivational skills.
