About the Role

Amazon, a global leader in e-commerce headquartered in Seattle, Washington, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its dynamic Finance as a Service (FAAS) team located in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. FAAS is known for fast-paced, collaborative environments focusing on delivering outstanding customer experiences. This role offers an opportunity to support accounting operations in a team-focused setting.

Key Responsibilities

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for managing month-end closing procedures, preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations, and performing balance sheet analyses. This position supports management in all areas of financial accounting, reporting systems, policies, and procedures. Additionally, the role will contribute to the development and enhancement of systems and processes to improve efficiency and internal controls within the department.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Certified Accountant credentials such as CA, ICWA, CIMA, CMA, or CPA are mandatory.
  • Experience in retail, marketplace, or financial retail services is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Motivation toward operational excellence, process improvement, and simplification.
  • Thorough understanding of financial controls and procedures; knowledge of US GAAP is a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and solid knowledge of SQL are essential.
  • Experience with ERP systems like Oracle and SAP.
  • Ability to adapt, stay organized, and work flexibly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean methodologies preferred.
  • Demonstrated proactive approach and strong teamwork abilities.
  • Self-driven, enthusiastic, and motivated individual.

Technical Skills

  • Expertise in standard software tools such as Excel, Access, Oracle, Essbase, SQL, and VBA.
  • Experience leveraging data to influence business decisions.
  • Background in corporate finance covering budgeting, forecasting, planning, and reporting.
  • Up to 0-4 years post-qualification experience in month-end closing, sub-ledger management, accounting knowledge, balance sheet reconciliation, and reporting.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with TM1, Data Warehouse, and SQL technologies is desirable.
