Sr. Director, Rental Operations

Role Overview

White Cap is seeking a senior leader to set the strategic course for rental operations across multiple facilities. This role is responsible for strengthening safety, operational performance, financial results, and customer experience while building scalable processes that support broader business goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the overall strategy and direction for rental operations across regional and multi-site teams.
• Guide, coach, and manage a layered leadership structure spanning operations, rental, customer service, and continuous improvement functions.
• Ensure day-to-day operations meet safety expectations, legal requirements, and internal company standards.
• Improve performance across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and customer service.
• Own financial outcomes, including budgeting, forecasting, expense management, and capital planning.
• Design and implement enterprise-level plans for inventory optimization, fleet usage, and capacity planning.
• Drive standardization, process improvement, and continuous improvement programs.
• Work across teams and put KPI and performance management frameworks in place to build accountability and measure results.

Scope of the Role

This is a highly strategic role that deals with complex business challenges. Solutions require advanced analysis and careful investigation. The position helps shape strategy and operating methods, serves as a policy and practice expert, and makes decisions within established organizational plans and guidelines. It also includes management through multiple reporting layers and enterprise-level budget responsibility.

Work Environment

• Primarily based in a comfortable indoor setting with only occasional mild discomfort.
• Most of the workday is spent seated, with regular opportunities to move around.
• Rarely may require lifting light items.
• Requires overnight travel approximately 20% to 50% of the time.

Education and Experience

• A bachelor’s degree in a related field is typically required.
• About 9 or more years of relevant experience is expected.
• Several of those years should include management or supervisory responsibility.

Preferred Background

• Experience leading multi-site operations in rental, manufacturing, or distribution.
• Proven ability to manage large leadership teams across multiple geographic locations.
• Track record of improving operations through continuous improvement initiatives.
• Experience owning P&L and handling financial management responsibilities.
• Training or certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar improvement methodologies.
• Strong understanding of financial and business performance drivers.
• Advanced leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Experience building KPIs and performance management systems.

Compensation and Additional Information

For Ohio candidates, the posted salary range is $161,500 to $271,200 per year. The actual base pay will depend on factors such as experience, skills, internal equity, and other business considerations.

This is a remote field operations role. Overnight travel is expected as noted above.
