Role Overview

The Director of Enterprise IT Vendor Management Office (VMO) reports to the Vice President within McKesson's Technology Operational Excellence and Governance division. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing McKesson’s managed services and strategic technology supplier contracts, ensuring vendor governance, commercial management, risk mitigation, compliance, and service optimization across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish, lead, and evolve enterprise-wide vendor management frameworks covering managed service providers (MSPs) and key technology suppliers, focusing on performance, compliance, risk, and contractual adherence.
  • Serve as the executive liaison for strategic suppliers, managing relationships, evaluating performance, fostering innovation, and handling escalations.
  • Oversee commercial aspects post-contract execution, including cost management, value realization, vendor negotiations, contracting strategy, and portfolio rationalization.
  • Ensure all vendor engagements comply with McKesson’s policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the contractual change control process to validate commercial changes against agreements.
  • Conduct detailed audits comparing vendor invoices to contractual terms to identify discrepancies and ensure value for money.
  • Design and lead governance frameworks including contractual meetings and Quarterly Business Reviews for strategic partners, ensuring rigorous follow-through on action items and escalations.
  • Drive service performance improvement by setting performance metrics, analyzing gaps, and implementing changes to elevate stability, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and mature the enterprise service delivery model, including oversight of Service Delivery Managers for consistent service execution.
  • Manage and advance the tools and platforms that facilitate vendor and MSP governance aligned with enterprise objectives.
  • Govern IT service management (ITSM) and related processes to integrate vendor performance with operational priorities.
  • Lead and mentor senior management teams, acting as a trusted adviser to CIO and executive leadership on vendor strategy, risk, and performance.
  • Collaborate closely with Sourcing & Procurement to align contract execution with operational delivery and provide feedback for future sourcing strategies.
  • Hold enterprise-level accountability for supplier performance, financial management, and cross-functional leadership impacting organizational operations and outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 13 years of relevant experience in IT vendor management, contract and commercial management, procurement, or service delivery, with a minimum of 5 years dedicated to developing multi-vendor governance or VMO capabilities in a regulated environment.
  • Minimum of 6 years managing and developing high-performing global teams within matrixed organizations.
  • Strong expertise in IT contract ecosystems including MSAs, SOWs, SLAs, and translating legal terms into operational activities.
  • Demonstrated success in building governance frameworks, risk management systems, and financial analyses of vendor invoices.

Compensation & Benefits

McKesson offers a competitive salary package with a base pay ranging from $126,900 to $169,200 annually. Additional incentives such as annual bonuses and long-term incentives may be provided. Compensation is aligned with experience, performance, and market factors.
