Speech and Swallowing Therapist - Home Care

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Speech and Swallowing Therapist specializing in dysphagia management and rehabilitation for head and neck oncology patients to join our dedicated Homecare unit in Lucknow under Medanta. This role requires delivering expert clinical services directly in patients' homes while adhering to the organization’s quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform thorough evaluations and treatment of disorders related to speech, voice, communication, and swallowing.
• Create individualized, evidence-based therapy plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
• Provide specialized care for patients experiencing dysphagia using advanced rehabilitative strategies.
• Administer pre-operative and post-operative rehabilitation for individuals with head and neck cancers.
• Educate patients and their caregivers on swallowing techniques, aspiration risk prevention, and home exercise regimens.
• Keep detailed clinical records and track treatment outcomes.
• Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team including ENT surgeons, oncologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and dietitians to deliver comprehensive care.
• Conduct scheduled home visits within Lucknow, maintaining Medanta’s standards for clinical quality and patient service.

Qualification and Experience

• Possess BASLP or MASLP qualification from a recognized institute.
• Have at least 4 years of practical clinical experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in head and neck oncology rehabilitation.
• Experienced in managing rehabilitation post-laser surgeries in oral cavity, pharyngeal, and laryngeal regions.
• Skilled in swallowing assessment and managing dysphagia.
• Proficient with rehabilitative swallowing techniques such as Mendelsohn and Masako maneuvers, effortful swallow, supraglottic and super-supraglottic swallow, Shaker exercise, and Chin Tuck Against Resistance (CTAR).
• Prior experience with Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and/or Videofluoroscopic Swallow Study (VFSS) is preferred.
• Strong communication, counseling, and patient engagement abilities.
• Prepared to travel locally within Lucknow for patient visits.
