This role offers technical expertise in vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasound, oil analysis, and other condition monitoring methodologies.

Additionally, this position provides leadership to the Lubrication Team and the Conveyor & Chutes Inspection Team, guaranteeing inspections and lubrication tasks adhere to safety, timing, and quality standards. The Specialist assumes acting leadership responsibilities during the Senior Analyst's absence by directing workflow, offering technical guidance, and supporting team functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all condition monitoring, lubrication, and inspection activities comply with established site safety standards and procedures.
  • Conduct field inspections safely utilizing risk assessments and safe work practices.
  • Enforce standard operating procedures, work instructions, and engineering standards within condition monitoring, lubrication, and inspection teams.
  • Participate actively in safety meetings, incident investigations, and initiatives for continuous improvement.
  • Perform vibration analysis, thermographic inspections, ultrasounds, oil sampling, and visual inspections on both critical and non-critical equipment.
  • Detect and assess equipment abnormalities, defects, and failure patterns using predictive maintenance tools and techniques.
  • Log maintenance work requests and accurately report findings through Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), such as Pronto.
  • Assist with root cause failure analyses for major breakdowns and recurring issues.
  • Maintain high-quality data, trend histories, inspection schedules, and baseline equipment performance metrics.
  • Lead and supervise Lubrication Technicians to ensure adherence to correct lubrication practices, verify proper lubricant grades and schedules, oversee oil sampling, and manage contamination control methods.
  • Oversee the Conveyor & Chutes Inspection Team, ensuring thorough inspections, documentation, identification of abnormal wear or failure risks, and initiating follow-ups until resolution.
  • Act as interim lead of the Condition Monitoring team by coordinating daily tasks, reviewing findings, approving work requests, and representing the team in cross-functional meetings.
  • Compile detailed reports related to condition monitoring, lubrication, and inspections, keeping CMMS updated with accurate data and tracking performance indicators.
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvements in condition-based maintenance strategies, lubrication practices, and inspection processes.
  • Support training and development of junior analysts and technicians in relevant areas.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in condition monitoring within mining or heavy industry settings.
  • Proven expertise in diagnosing faults and maintaining fixed plant equipment such as mills, crushers, conveyors, pumps, and gearboxes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of conveyor systems, chutes, and rotating machinery.
  • Experience with predictive maintenance instruments, CMMS, and plant monitoring systems.
  • Strong background in lubrication programs, contamination control, and predictive maintenance documentation.
  • Demonstrated leadership in supervising teams and managing maintenance or inspection activities.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, reliability improvement techniques, and technical investigations.

Educational Requirements and Certifications

  • Engineering Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a relevant technical field.
  • Completion of Grade 12 is mandatory.
  • Advanced certifications in condition monitoring such as vibration analysis (minimum CAT II), thermography (CAT I preferred), ultrasound (CAT I desired), and oil analysis (CAT I minimum).
  • Additional certifications in non-destructive testing (NDT) and leadership/supervisory training would be advantageous.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with at least 12 months driving experience.

Key Attributes and Skills

  • Detail-oriented with strong accuracy in data analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, especially in technical reporting.
  • Highly self-motivated, proactive, and able to operate independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational capabilities with the ability to juggle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Leadership qualities including resource management and work coordination.
