Job description
Job Overview
This role is exempt from the federal civilian hiring freeze. As an FBI special agent, your career impacts national security by leveraging your analytical thinking and decisive actions. Transitioning from an accounting and finance background, you will join federal law enforcement to investigate crimes including cyber threats, terrorism, and fraud.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead investigations into potential federal law violations related to cybersecurity and public safety.
- Apply discretion, ingenuity, and adaptability to meet complex investigative challenges.
- Build and sustain collaborative relationships with various law enforcement agencies across local, state, tribal, territorial, and international levels.
- Maintain physical fitness to meet law enforcement readiness standards.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
- Eligibility to obtain a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance.
- Willingness to travel as the job demands.
- Must satisfy the FBI’s Employment Eligibility criteria.
Education Requirements
A bachelor's degree or higher from a U.S. accredited institution is required, preferably in accounting, business administration, finance, or forensic accounting. Official college transcripts must be submitted for verification.
Transition and Skills Application
Your expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, risk management, and tools such as R programming and Tableau will transition into analyzing complex data to extract evidence and insights critical for investigations. This career shift moves from supporting roles to ownership and decision-making authority in cases.
Compensation Information
The pay range for this position is $93,749 to $133,200 annually, based on base pay, location, and availability.
