Role Overview

Homeland Language Services is seeking experienced Spanish-English interpreters to support community members and clients in Henrico, Virginia. This opportunity is suited to professionals who want to work with an international language services provider and contribute meaningful support across the community.

The interpreter will facilitate communication for limited English proficient individuals, their relatives, clients, and staff across medical, legal, educational, and social service environments. The role also involves intercultural mediation so that professionals can provide respectful, culturally appropriate care, guidance, and instruction. Strong attention to customer experience, confidentiality, safety, and collaboration is essential.

Job Details

This is an on-site position based in Henrico, VA. Assignments are scheduled according to client demand, typically during standard business hours from 8 AM to 6 PM, with some Saturdays included.

Pay is based on experience and any relevant certifications.

Experience and Qualifications

Applicants should have at least 1 year of interpreting experience, or successful completion of an internship program. Experience in medical, customer service, legal, or educational settings is considered an advantage, depending on available assignments.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional credentials such as CMI, CHI, CCHI, or a 40-hour interpreting course are welcomed and can strengthen an application.

Professional fluency in both spoken and written English and the target language is necessary. Native-level fluency in the interpretation language is preferred. The job also calls for professional interpreting ability and the capacity to handle short non-publication translations.

Employment Terms

This role is offered as a contract position under W-9/1099 terms.

The schedule is flexible, allowing interpreters to accept or decline assignments based on their availability. Work opportunities can be managed conveniently from a smartphone.
