Job description

Role Overview

We are seeking Spanish-English interpreters to support communication for limited English proficient (LEP) individuals, their families, clients, and staff. This role involves helping people access services across medical, legal, educational, and social service environments while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, safety, and a strong service mindset.

The position is intended for experienced interpreters who want to join a collaborative international team and contribute meaningfully to the community. It also offers room for professional development within a flexible work arrangement.

Work Setting

This is an in-person role. Assignments are available in Bronx, NY and Westchester County, including Mount Vernon and New Rochelle.

The schedule is generally during standard business hours, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with occasional Saturdays. Assignments are scheduled according to client needs.

Compensation

Pay is based on experience and any relevant certifications. The company will discuss exact rates, schedules, and other working conditions with shortlisted candidates.

Background and Experience

Candidates should have at least 1 year of interpreting experience, or have completed a successful internship program. Experience in medical, customer service, legal, or educational environments is considered an advantage, depending on the assignment type.

A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification is required. Additional credentials such as CMI, CHI, CCHI, or a 40-hour interpreting course are beneficial.

Strong fluency in both written and spoken English and the language being interpreted is essential, with native-level fluency in the interpreted language preferred. The role also calls for professional interpreting ability and the capacity to handle short non-publication translation tasks.
