About the Role

Join a well-established national law firm as a Solicitor in the Medical Negligence - Group Actions team, based in Sheffield. Here, you’ll have the chance to provide expert legal assistance to those impacted by clinical negligence, playing a direct role in securing accountability and compensation for individuals and families. The team specialises in complex medical negligence group actions, as well as product liability disputes involving defective pharmaceuticals and medical devices.

Team & Client Focus

You’ll work closely within a supportive environment under the guidance of experienced partners. Your work will have a real impact, supporting major litigation including: paediatric and spinal surgery claims, group actions over flawed medical devices, contaminated blood cases, national inquiries, and high-stakes aviation disaster claims spanning international jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering tailored, empathetic legal guidance to clients from initial consultation onwards
  • Managing your own caseload of individual medical negligence and grouped cases
  • Supporting partners on significant, high-value litigation
  • Pursuing interim payments to aid client rehabilitation
  • Engaging external counsel, experts, and other parties to strengthen cases
  • Contributing to team strategy and knowledge sharing

Candidate Profile

  • 3-5 years post-qualification experience (PQE) as a solicitor
  • Background in medical or clinical negligence litigation
  • Familiarity with group actions and product liability litigation preferred, though not essential
  • Highly organised with strong commercial awareness
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with tight timeframes
